On the coming Merdeka weekend, the market-going public in Seri Kembangan new village will be greeted by a large size portrait of the historical figure Sir Harold Briggs, artfully composed of fruits and vegetables. They will be invited to buy these fruits and vegetables, and enter into conversations about who this figure is and how this figure has impacted their lives and personal histories.
This workshop will open up disucssions on participative and community art practices, focusing on site-specific issues, choices and strategies in engaging communities. Participants are invited to share their processes of engagement and negotiations with each project's context and communities. Participants will also discuss how to evaluate each project in order to evolve models for future practices.
Saturday 28 June, 3 pm. For adults and seniors. Free of charge. Bring a soft drink can. Aunty Loh is very deft at turning drink cans into birds of different shapes, come and learn from her this amazing craft and do your bit for caring for our environment - recycle!
