Kenapakah UMNO dan rakyat lain hendakkan peralihan kuasa lebih awal? Apakah kerana tidak suka kepada tubuh badan Abdullah atau apakah kerana tidak suka kepada dasar-dasar dan pendekatannya dalam pentadbiran parti dan Negara? Apakah kerana mereka semata-mata mahu pemimpin lain menggantinya? Jika penggantinya hanya akan teruskan semua dasar dan amalan Abdullah maka sia-sia sahajalah penggantian Abdullah dan peralihan kuasa... Kata Mat Salleh, "You will be back to square one". Dan UMNO akan kalah.
Contests are good because it produces strong leaders who are endorsed by members. I don't know what Pak Lah has in mind, or how he is going to persuade Rafidah and Shahrizat to come to an agreement to avert a contest. I wish him well. Chances are that the show will go on.
Voters punish politicians following adverse weather events, but the degree of punishment depends critically on the quality of the ruling party's response: Those distributing greater amounts of relief aid suffer smaller subsequent electoral losses.
Truly Malaysian politics have not been decoupled from racial sentiments and loyalties. And it is going to remain so for as long as the different races prefer to be separated and divided, prefer to strongly uphold their languages, cultures and their historical origins and links. All that is said about reforms and liberalism is mere lip service.

Apa yang sepatutnya berlaku adalah ketentuan ini yang disokong dan diterima pakai oleh kontrak sosial mesti dijunjung oleh setiap rakyat. Bukan hanya orang Islam atau Melayu sahaja. Ini adalah teras kepada jalinan hubungan antara kepelbagaian etnik dan agama di negara kita... Tetapi dalam bab kehidupan bernegara, kita semua terikat dengan undang-undang. Bagi orang Islam kita terikat dengan syariat Allah. Orang bukan Islam yang hidup di negara Islam, mereka bebas ada rumah ibadat masing-masing yang dibina mengikut undang-undang. Kita hidup dalam masyarakat yang bersistem. Islam di Malaysia ada pelindungnya iaitu raja-raja Melayu yang diperkasa dengan peruntukan undang- undang.
